A woman was very distraught at the fact that she had not had a date or any sex in quite some time.

Well after watching the Olmpics womens gymnastics, I can only say that the judging was ugly and they didn't stop that. How many Chinese gymnasts were given beautiful marks for less than beautiful routines? It is no longer the ugly American, it is the ugly judges of the home country.

Stolen chances from young women who have worked hard and been cheated. I applaud the all the Olympians who did well including the Chinese. I say kick the ugly judges out!!! LOL
Besides have you seen what they are showing in the audiences? I'd rather hug a Yak. LOL

No logic to that argument. Look at the nightlife in Beijing, you now have disco's and karaoke bars. This would have been unthinkable just a few short years ago. Then the only entertainment available would have been the opera and ballet.

To keep the Chinese in isolation would be a huge mistake. We are talking about 1/5th of the worlds population. Their society is changing rapidly and these games could be a catalyst for further improvement. This is no longer the China of Mao. I think there will be huge positive repurcussions from these Games. We think of our society in America as perfect but it is hardly that. However the exposure to Western ways at these games will show the Chinese people new possibilities. Let's just hope they don't turn to the Bible, beer, and guns as major influences. For some reason God ignored these people when he brought his only begotten Son to Earth (LOL!).
And whoever said the Chinese women look like yaks clearly missed the journalist I saw on the Today show yesterday. Absolutely stunning! And she is just an example. Even their beach volleyball team (the younger one) is better looking than ours!
This incident could just have easily occured in America. To deny that is purely xenophobic.

I've seen photos of the girl in question and she's not ugly, maybe a little plainer than the girl who replaced her, but definitely not ugly. The Chinese officials admitted that she was a better singer but wanted a more appealing looking performer.

Charlson, do you really think this could not happen in America? Something tells me we will see that little girl (the plain one) come the Closing Ceremonies. Clearly the Chinese care a great deal about image or "face" as they call it. This was a terribly embarrasing incident for the Party. The only thing worse for them would be a failure to address it.

I went to the "source", and then did a search to see if I could find this story anywhere else on the web. I found it nowhere but on the daily mash (in the UK). That's very odd, the story is unbelievable. It's one thing to be anti-American, it's another thing to just blantantly lie. Whatever happened to honest reporting? Advice to anyone who reads the dailymash, recheck the information. You have the whole world at your fingertips.
