It is what it is. As my research yielded to me, Hamdan was hired by Bin Laden as his driver in 1996. We weren't at war against terror then. There was no rebuttal allowed to the fact that there were any rockets in the car in which Hamdan was arrested. By the way, it wasn't Bin Ladens car either.

Wasn't he detained by the Northern Alliance? And then sold to the U S Army for the bounty?
He was described as a top Lieutenant of Bin Laden when we first got hold of him. And I believe he was tortured - wasn't he?
I don't believe that anyone proved he was anything except a driver for Bin Laden.
And just think. Of the thousands of "Worst of The Worst " described by Rumsfeldt, he is only the second to be tried while all but 270 of those "Worst of the Worst" are no longer at Gitmo.
They've either died in custody ( some under suspicious circumstances - like beaten to death ) and some who have just disappeared, and the rest -release to their country of origin, where I do believe any that have been tried have been found not guilty.
Hooray !
For justice. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to our military court system.-

You have to remember that the bush administration had yet to present evidence that would convict anyone for terrorism. They need some sort of "show trial" in good soviet sytle to keep the propaganda wheels running.

As for the hundreds of foreigners that were returned to their countries after years of jail time, you are exactly right that only one has been convicted - the poor Aussie who pleaded guilty to get out of bushies gulag served 9 months in Australia before he was set free.

He was arrested, detained, charged, judged and sentenced by the same people. So far, no one other than this bunch know who this guy is, where he was found, what are his crimes, what charges were filed, what evidence and eye witnesses were presented.
