This Maya woman from San Juan (on Lake Atitlan) is weaving on the traditional Maya backstrap loom. See the San Juan video. The backstrap loom is still widely used in the Maya regions of Guatemala. The Maya are great craftsmen. You can even buy Guatemalan beaded jewelry online now! What a world!
